What's it all about?
2012 was the third year that Mick's family have held the annual Mick Belson Tournament to raise money for Brain Tumour UK: A worthy charity that is close to the hearts of the Belson family after Mick sadly lost a year long battle against a tumour on 14th February 2010.
In Mick's name, football teams in the Peterborough area participate in an annual tournament to support Brain Tumour UK. However, the event is also a jubilent celebration to commemorate the years of Mick's sporting contribution in the Peterborough area: as a football player, coach and manager.
Saturday 4th August was the third annual tournament where 7-a-side teams including ICA teams, The Nags Head FC, Belson Family & Friends FC and Baker Perkins FC played against each other at the 3G Pitch at The Grange, Mayors Walk. Check out the teams and the results in the header pages above.
The 2012 Mick Belson Cup has, without a shadow of a doubt, been another successful fund-raiser which has raised over £1100 for Brain Tumour UK. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who contributed; the organisers, the donators, the players, the attendees and everyone who put in an effort on the day. It is extremely appreciated.
In addition to The Mick Belson Cup, Mick's wife Jean and many other members of his family, have frequently been involved in other events throughout the year and will continue to do so in their pledge to raise money for this worthy cause and to show appreciation for the privilege of having such a wonderful man in their life.
